Dr Jim Wilson and Alistair MoffatGreat Hall | 12.30pm | £8, £6 (c) At the outset of a vast and important project to map Scotland’s DNA, Dr Jim Wilson, a distinguished geneticist from Edinburgh University, and historian Alistair Moffat explain how it is all done and how the map will be taking shape. They are also looking for East Lothian’s help. To create the map, they need saliva samples from people living around Haddington and the rest of the county. For an extra £12, each ticket holder can have their DNA tested and traced. Each will be asked to fill in a confidential form with details of their known lineage – but names will not be published, only the statistical data will be used. If you want to know where you and your family come from, come to this session, bring some saliva and a lot of curiosity. |
